Gates Open

I'm finishing my last shift on Wednesday morning (on Vehicle Gate 5) when I hear a big cheer in the distance. Pedestrian Gate A had opened - at around 7.15. On shift changeover at 8.00 I got a lift back to the Oxfield. I handed in my hi-vis vest. I was finished. I got some sleep, had some food and headed for Ped Gate B to enter the site.

I find Ped Gates interesting places. They are fun places to work.

Later that night, I sat outside the marquee in the Oxfield for a long time, with my friend Sol. A big party was kicking off down on the site, and the music got louder and louder. Fireworks started exploding, and we both sat there in wonder. The scene seemed immense and I reached for the camera. These shots don't do justice to the scale of what we witnessed...
